President recovering after angioplasty

President Pranab Mukherjee was recovering well on Sunday following a coronary angioplasty conducted at the Army’s Research and Referral Hospital on Saturday.

Mr. Mukherjee, 79, underwent the procedure after being admitted to the hospital with stomach problems.

“Grateful for all the thoughts, wishes & prayers for my good health; I have recovered & am hoping to return to work soon,” the President’s Twitter handle said on Sunday.

After keeping him under observation, during which an arterial blockage was detected, doctors conducted the angioplasty to improve the blood flow to the heart and installed a coronary stent.
