Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday called for making the police a ‘SMART’ force — Strict and Sensitive, Modern and Mobile, Alert and Accountable, Reliable and Responsive, Techno savvy and Trained.

Addressing the 49th Annual Conference of Directors-General of Police/Inspectors-General of Police and heads of all Central police organisations here, the Prime Minister said every police station should create its own website to upload every week a true story of good deeds done by the police to change the public perception and build a positive image among the people. He suggested hiring a PR firm to hold meetings with Bollywood producers to do films that project a positive image of the police. He said people had a negative image as the media as well as the films showed them in a poor light.
