PMO denied me info on petition against Vadra, says activist

Ms. Thakur alleged that "the PMO does not want real facts to come in the open" as on March 7 the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court disposed of the petition, citing lack of merit, and thus it was no longer sub judice.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) has denied her information on the writ petition she filed in the Allahabad High Court seeking probe into corruption charges against Robert Vadra, Uttar Pradesh-based social activist Nutan Thakur said on Saturday.

“The Public Information Officer of the PMO did not provide the note sheet related to the case filed by me, saying that the matter was sub judice ,” she claimed .

In October, 2012, she filed a PIL seeking directions for the PMO to order a probe into corruption allegations levelled against Mr. Vadra by activist-turned-politician Arvind Kejriwal. Ms. Thakur alleged that “the PMO does not want real facts to come in the open” as on March 7 the Lucknow Bench of the Allahabad High Court disposed of the petition, citing lack of merit, and thus it was no longer sub judice .

Ms. Thakur then wrote an objection to the First Appellate Authority (FAO) saying that the RTI Act nowhere prohibited revealing of sub judice information, if not ordered so by a competent court.

However, the FAO rejected her appeal, citing an order of the Central Information Commission in the case of Samir Vijay Zaveri vs CPIO, PMO, where the copy of an affidavit filed by the PMO was denied under the Supreme Court rules.

“They are unrelated cases. The court has disposed of my PIL and the matter is not even under investigation; so how can the PMO deny me the information, ” Ms. Thakur asked .
