PM writes to Anna

August 28, 2011 02:42 am | Updated November 17, 2021 12:30 am IST - NEW DELHI:

Team Anna held back its reaction, after a ‘Sense of the House' on the Lokpal issue was adopted by Parliament and after it received a letter written by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to Gandhian Anna Hazare.

In his letter, Dr. Singh said: “You will be happy to know that both Houses of Parliament have passed a resolution on the three points raised by you in the letter [of August 26].”

The Prime Minister said that according to the resolution, Parliament had in principle agreed to the three points — the citizens' charter, lower bureaucracy to be under Lokpal and establishment of Lokayuktas in the States.

“Parliament has also resolved to send today's [Saturday] proceedings to the department-related Standing Committee for its perusal while formulating its recommendations.”
