Taking time out from his busy schedule, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Saturday held a public ‘durbar’ at his Race Course Road residence here.
Dr. Singh held such an exercise after a long time, meeting people from various sections of the society and listening to their grievances.
He met 31 groups, representing minorities, NGOs, artists, sportspersons and others for about an hour, sources in the Prime Minister's Office said.
Dr. Singh received petitions from these groups who came from various States and listened to their grievances and complaints, the sources said.
The groups who were present at the Prime Minister’s public hearing included Sarv Samaj Shiksha Welfare Society from Meerut, All Assam Minorities Students Union, Rama Krishna Ashram, National Thinkers Forum from Jalandhar, Haryana Pradesh Brahman Samiti, Roller Skating Association of Andhra Pradesh and Chandigarh Territorial Congress Committee.
