PM orator of untruth, says Congress

Reacting to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement that linked “demonetisation to top Congress leaders being out on bail in the National Herald case,” the Congress on Monday called Mr. Modi “the greatest orator of untruth.” “Today, you have heard the greatest of untruths from the greatest orator of untruths,” spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi said.

In a tweet, Congress president Rahul Gandhi said the only shell firms identified after demonetisation belonged to Jay Shah, son of BJP chief Amit Shah, Union Minister Piyush Goyal and industrialist Anil Ambani.

Mr. Singhvi said demonetisation was the biggest ‘Modi-made disaster’ ever inflicted on this country. “He is in a minority of one on planet earth who supports this. None of his Ministers in the Cabinet supports it, much less the country. That is why he and his party are running scared, not even celebrating the second anniversary of the note bandi ,” he said.

Mr. Singhvi said the Prime Minister was linking the unlink-able and reminded Mr. Modi about his statement that he was ready to face any punishment on any chauraha (public square) if things didn’t improve in 50 days.

“I wonder which chauraha he has chosen for himself because we neither found black money nor found fake currency, neither stopped terrorism nor naxalism. We found deaths, tragic terrible deaths of 120 innocent people, an adverse impact of 1.5% on GDP, two million job losses, the list can go on,”he said.

The Congress leader claimed that linking the National Herald case to the demonetisation was an attempt to avoid answering tough questions and were now issuing empty threats.

“Honorable PM, we are the Congress party, we were called the Congress movement. We had the same vindictive, revengeful cases foisted upon us to cower us down by by the British. Merely because you are the re-incarnation of the British when it comes to vendetta policies, don’t think we will be cowed down,”he said.

The Congress spokesperson also alleged that the Modi government is now eyeing the surplus reserves of the Reserve Bank of India after demonetisation wiped out 2% of the India’s GDP.
