Not happy with the logo designs shown to him for his pet project — the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana — Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently put his creativity to use, coming up with an illustration of what the design should look like.
At a meeting to finalise the details of the PMAY scheme, which envisages housing for all by 2022, the Prime Minister, known to be a tough task master, seemed unimpressed with the designs that the Ministry of Housing and Poverty Alleviation had procured from several creative teams.
According to a source, he found most of the designs either “too direct depicting ‘house’ or too cluttered.”
Even as officials of the Ministry, who have already faced music for taking too long to get the project off the ground, scurried around for more designs, Mr. Modi grabbed paper and pen to put his suggestion forward.
He suggested that the logo should be more “suggestive and less cluttered without too many elements.”
Of the few sketches that the Prime Minister drew, one which has an ‘H’ for ‘house’ with a not too distinct roof and an Ashok Chakra on the top is now being worked upon.
To be unveiled on June 25The logo will be unveiled along with the logo for Smart Cities Mission and AMRUT on June 25.
Earlier, the components of the scheme were rejigged several times as the PM, who closely monitored the scheme was not satisfied with the final draft.
Mr. Modi has promised housing for all with amenities including piped water, toilet facilities and electricity by 2022, when the nation completes 75 years of Independence.
