‘Were you uprooting terrorist or trees?’ Sidhu questions the purpose of Balakot air strikes

Navjot Singh Sidhu

Punjab Tourism Navjot Singh Sidhu on Monday questioned the purpose of the air strikes conducted by the Indian Air Force (IAF) on Jaish-e-Mohammed camps in Pakistan.

Tweeting the screenshots of various media reports on the remarks of various BJP leaders, including Union Minister of State S.S Ahluwalia on air strikes, Mr. Sidhu said “300 terrorist dead, Yes or No? What was the purpose then? Were you uprooting terrorist or trees? Was it an election gimmick? Deceit possesses our land in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy.”

“Stop politicising the army, it is as sacred as the state,” he added.

Earlier, Mr. Sidhu had come under criticism from several quarters over his remarks on Pakistan after the Pulwama terror attack, in which he said that an entire nation can’t be held responsible for the attack.

Mr. Sidhu has been maintaining that solution to terror is peace, development and progress — not unemployment, hatred and fear.
