Tension prevailed at Muhammadpur Raisingh and Hussainpur villages, which witnessed renewed violence on Wednesday. Police and paramilitary forces continued to patrol the area, even as people went shopping ahead of Diwali.
Three victims, identified as Afroz, 20, Meherban, 21, and Ajmal, 22 from Hussainpur were allegedly beaten to death in clashes between members of the Jat community and Muslims belonging to the two villages near Muzaffarnagar.
Eight persons, arrested in connection with the killing of the three residents of Hussainpur were sent to 14 days’ judicial custody on Friday.
“Fifteen persons were named in the FIR in connection with the three murders and till now we have nabbed eight of them. Our search operation is going on,” said Dhananjay Mishra, Station House Officer of the Budhna police station. Tensions ran high as paramilitary forces were seen even in the Muzaffarnagar city area.
