Settling the differences over the long pending 660 MW Kishau dam project, the Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh officials, on Saturday, agreed upon sharing of benefits from the project equally.

In the meeting held in Dehradun on Saturday, officials from both the States discussed on the final draft of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The draft of the MoU will now be sent for the approval of the respective Cabinets of both the governments.

There were differences between the two governments over sharing of the benefits from the project. On Saturday, it was agreed upon that the two governments would get equal share of benefits from the project.

The issues over the cost of the project were settled earlier with the Centre agreeing to bear 90 percent cost of the project and the two States deciding to bear five percent each of the remaining cost.

The project, which is to benefit five States including New Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh, will be built on the river Tons on Uttarakhand-Himachal Pradesh border.
