Unnao rape case accused BJP MLA, Kuldeep Singh Sengar. His brother Atul Singh Sengar has been chargesheeted in the case regarding the death of the victim’s father.

The Uttar Pradesh police on Sunday ruled out poisoning as the cause of death of a key CBI witness, who was privy to the assault on the father of the Unnao rape survivor.

The witness Yunus died on August 18 under suspicious circumstances after which the uncle of the rape survivor alleged that he was poisoned as part of a ‘conspiracy’ by BJP MLA Kuldeep Singh Sengar, who is the prime accused in the rape case.

The witness’ family, however, had maintained that Yunus died due to liver disease and alleged that the rape survivor’s uncle had tried to bribe them into seeking exhumation of the body.

Amid a controversy, the body was sent for chemical analysis last Sunday after an autopsy failed to ascertain the cause of his death.

Uttar Pradesh ADG Anand Kumar said the forensic report has been submitted to the SP. “No poison has been detected in the viscera which was sent for chemical analysis,” he added.
