The body of the Border Security Force (BSF) jawan Suvendu Roy who was killed in an encounter with Pakistani militants on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway will reach his home in Dhupguri block in West Bengal’s Jalpaiguri district on Friday.

Roy (37) and his colleague Rocky were killed in Udhampur district on Wednesday when two LeT militants opened fire on a BSF convoy. While one militant was killed in the retaliatory fire, the other was caught by the local people and security forces.

Mr. Roy’s brother Krishnapada Roy, a jawan in the CRPF, demanded a speedy trial of the arrested militant Mohammad Naved.

“We want the trail to be completed at the earliest so that it will not be influenced by vested interests,” he told presspersons at Daukimari village.

Family members of the jawan said Mr. Roy’s wife Anjana was informed about his death on Thursday.

The couple has two daughters aged 10 and five.

The jawan, posted with the second battalion of BSF in J&K, had come home on a two-week vacation and had returned only on Sunday.
