Two killed in accidental explosion in Kupwara in J&K

Two persons, including a 14-year-old boy, were killed and six others injured due to an “accidental” explosion in Kupwara district of north Kashmir on Tuesday, official sources said in Srinagar.

The live shell exploded when a scrap dealer, Ali Mohmmad Bhat, was breaking down the scrap that he had collected from Maidanpora and adjoining areas in Lalpora area of Kupwara district, they said.

Bhat and Mudasir Ahmad, a student, died on the spot while six other persons including two women, three students and an infant were injured, they said.

The injured have been admitted to district hospital in Kupwara, the sources added.
