Two electrocuted

Two workers were electrocuted and two others suffered severe burn injuries when the crane they were carrying came in contact with high tension electric wire near Bamphakuda on National Highway, under Cuttack Sadar police station here on Tuesday afternoon.

The police said two workers of a private construction company died on the spot while two others were shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in critical conditions. “Although, the deceased workers belong to Jagatsinghpur district, they have not been identified yet,” said the Sadar police station inspector Debadutta Kar.

The police said around 1.30 p.m. the workers were shifting the crane when its upper portion came in contact with a snapped 11 KV live electric wire.Irate locals blocked the road blaming the electricity department for he deaths.
