Police have arrested two persons here on charges of gang-raping a 23-year-old woman from Nepal, who jumped from the third floor of an apartment building in a barely clad state to save herself. The woman had bruises all over her body and fractured one of her legs.

The incident took place in the night intervening Friday and Saturday in the Muhana area on the outskirts of Jaipur. The two accused had brought the victim to the flat and tried to overpower her.

The woman ran towards the balcony adjacent to the bedroom and jumped off while trying to escape.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the survivor was seen with one of the accused persons many times in the past. Police said she had consensual physical relations with one of the accused, but resisted when the second person tried to rape her.

The woman, belonging to Nepal, was staying in Delhi and had come to Jaipur on the invitation of an acquaintance. She is undergoing treatment at Jaipuria Hospital here and has given her statement to the police.

The two accused, Lokesh Saini, 19, and Kamal Saini, 24, have been remanded in judicial custody after being produced in the court. Their identification parade will be done when the victim is discharged from the hospital.
