A two-and-half-year-old girl, who fell into an open borewell while playing outside her house, was rescued in the early hours of Monday, a top official said.

Jyoti Meena had fallen into borewell near her house at Biharipura village in Dausa district on Sunday.

The villagers rescued her using a local device after 12 hours of exercise at around 2 am, Dausa Collector S.S. Pawar said.

The child was first rushed to the Lalsot hospital then shifted to a government hospital in Dausa. Her condition was stated to be normal, he said.

However, the district rescue team and NDRF jawans were also on their job digging out the adjoining area of the 200-metre open borewell. The girl was stuck at 50 feet, he said.
