Gutka and other tobacco products worth Rs 8.10 lakh that were being transported into the city have been seized by police.
“A jeep carrying the banned goods was stopped on Thursday night near Golden Dyes Naka on suspicion and after a search, gutka and tobacco products of various brands worth Rs 8.10 lakh were found inside,” sub-inspector A.A. Shedge of Rabodi police station said.
The driver, identified as Manishkumar Singh (23), who hails from Sarsa in Bihar, was arrested.
Currently, there is a ban on sale and manufacturing of gutka, paan masala and all types of processed or packaged tobacco in Maharashtra. — PTI
