A two-and-half-year-old sub-adult male tiger cub of famed Choti Tara died of electrocution at a paddy field in Bhamdeli village near Tadoba Tiger Sanctuary late on Saturday night.

The sub-adult tiger cub, which had come out of the sanctuary's core area into the buffer zone to establish its own territory, got stuck in a water canal along a solar-powered electric fence put up by farmer Nannavare in his paddy field situated in Bhamdeli village in Bhadravathi Tehsil of Chandrapur district, Maharashtra.

In the process to escape out of the water canal, the tiger came in contact with the live wire, resulting in its death. The Forest Department officials shifted the carcass of the feline from the accident spot on Sunday morning.
