May 14, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:51 am IST - Raipur:

A “tiffin bomb”, planted by Naxals to target the security forces, was recovered on a road in Chhattisgarh’s Kondagaon district on Wednesday, police said.

The steel container packed with 10-kg of explosive was found under a pile of gravel on the road connecting Hangwa Tiraha to Totar.

The road passes through forests under the Kondagaon police station limits, Additional Superintendent of Police Nivedita Sharma told PTI.

Based on an alert that Naxals had planted an improvised explosive device along the route, where road construction work is underway, a joint squad of district police and Central Reserve Police Force’s battalion 212 was dispatched from Kondagaon towards Isalnar, Hangwa and Totar villages.

They found the bomb ahead of Totar, she said. PTI
