The West Bengal CID on Friday arrested three top leaders of the Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) from Delhi.
D.K.Pradhan, P.T. Ola and Tilak Chandra Roka were arrested from Gurugram, CID said. “They are being brought to Kolkata. We will see where they can be produced,” Nishat Pervez, DIG (Operations) of CID, told The Hindu. He said they were booked under several Sections of the IPC, including 307 (attempt to murder), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 120 B (criminal conspiracy).
Meanwhile, GJM president Bimal Gurung has circulated a video message urging people to teach rebel GJM leader Binoy Tamang a lesson. Mr. Tamang has been nominated as chairperson of the newly constituted Gorkhaland Territorial Administration. “I have already said that these two [Mr. Tamang and Anit Thapa] are colluding with the State government to derail the Gorkhaland movement. I am urging the Gorkhas to punish them,” Mr. Gurung said.
Mr. Tamang reacted by saying that there was “no gain indulging in immature politics and we have to move forward with a proper strategy while rectifying our past mistakes.”
