Three militants killed in Pulwama operation

They were holed up in a residential area

Security personnel killed three militants holed up in a residential area in Pulwama’s Tral area in Jammu and Kashmir in an operation on Sunday, a Srinagar-based Army spokesman said.

An official said the personnel of the Army, the CRPF and the police had earlier surrounded the group of militants in Pinglish village. Locals said they heard loud explosions in the area. A house was also blasted during the operation, they said.

Four civilians injured

Meanwhile, four civilians were injured in Baramulla’s Uri when Pakistani troops violated ceasefire agreement and fired shells along the Line of Control.

An Army spokesman said Pakistan also resorted to unprovoked firing in Poonch, where “forward posts and villages at four places along the LoC were targeted”.

“The firing was intense in the Krishna Ghati sector, where the Pakistani troops resorted to mortar shelling and firing by small arms from around 4.30 a.m., which was retaliated to befittingly by the Indian Army. The shelling between the two sides continued till 7.30 a.m. He said there was no report of any casualty on the Indian side,” said the Army spokesman.
