A woman was allegedly gang-raped at gunpoint by a police inspector and his two subordinates inside a police station in Uttar Pradesh’s Deoband area in Saharanpur, police said on Sunday.
The woman, in a letter written to Senior Superintendent of Police R.P.S. Yadav, claimed that she was gang-raped by three police personnel on August 6, Additional Superintendent of Police (Rural) Jagdish Sharma said.
The woman stated in the letter that her husband was booked in a “false” case and sent to jail on August 1, and when she approached the inspector, he assured help, Mr. Sharma said.
On August 6, a policeman came to the victim women’s house and took her to police station claiming the inspector has called her, Mr. Sharma said quoting the letter.
At the police station, the inspector raped the victim at gunpoint. Later, two more personnel, including an officer, raped her in the police station, he said.
They also threatened her that if she told anyone about the incident, then more criminal cases would be lodged against her husband, he said.
No FIR has been registered in the matter so far.
