Rosy Feroor, the third accused in the minor rape and human trafficking case involving an unattached MLA in Goa, surrendered before the Crime Branch on Saturday.
Feroor has been accused by the victim of allegedly selling her off in March to legislator Atanasio Monserrate for Rs.50 lakh in connivance with the minor girl's mother who is already in police custody.
Monserrate and the victim's mother were arrested on Thursday and on Friday remanded to three days in police custody. Feroor, who was missing since the first information report was lodged by the Goa Police Crime Branch on Wednesday night, surrendered on Saturday.
“She surrendered before the Crime Branch around noon," Superintendent of Police in-charge of Crime Branch Karthik Kashyap told The Hindu .
He said she was likely to be arrested and sent for medical examination later in the day.
Monserrate has been booked under sections 342 (wrongful confinement), 328 (causing hurt), 370 (detaining against will), 376 (rape) and Sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act and section 8 of the Goa Children's Act, while the victim's mother has been booked for human trafficking and criminal conspiracy, the police said.
Feroor had gone underground following the police FIR and police was on the look out for her.
