Tension in Bareilly as two groups clash

Two groups belonging to different communities clashed over an alleged incident of eve teasing, leading to tension in Premnagar area in Bareilly.

Superintendent of Police Rajiv Malhotra said that an FIR has been registered in this regard against a youth under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and for eve teasing.

It was alleged that the youth had indulged in eve-teasing and tried to molest a girl studying in class ninth on Wednesday night.

The girl raised an alarm and locals gathered on the spot.

Later, the boy allegedly attacked the girl’s house with his friends leading to brick batting from both sides.

A large contingent of security personnel has been deployed in the area and police have detained the father of the accused and his friend in this connection.

Police are trying to arrest the accused.
