Teenage girl gangraped in Punjab's Fazilka dies

Deputy Superintendent of Police of Jalalabad, Amarjit Singh said that the girl has died of excessive bleeding.

A teenage girl has died in Fazilka district of Punjab after she was allegedly raped by three-youth on her way to home from school, few days ago.

Police said that the 17-year-old girl, who died on late Saturday night was allegedly raped on October 25, however, the victim's family did not initially disclose the incident and it was after the death of the girl that few fellow villagers informed the police.

The police has registered a case of gang rape based on the complaint received from victim's family. As per the complaint three youth gang raped the girl in the fields, while she was on her way to home from school in Jalalabad.

Deputy Superintendent of Police of Jalalabad, Amarjit Singh said that the girl has died of excessive bleeding.

“We have filed a case of rape and murder based on the complaint against unidentified persons and investigation was being conducted. We are looking for the culprits,” he said.
