Tata Steel to fund eye hospital

: Tata Steel will fund the setting up of a 100-bed Super Specialty Eye Care Hospital in Ganjam District of Odisha. Tamil Nadu-based Sankara Eye Hospital will execute the project and operate the hospital.

Tata Steel signed an agreement with Sankara Eye Hospital in presence of Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak on Wednesday.

According to the agreement, Tata Steel will extend financial support as a grant to the tune of Rs 42.3 crore for the construction of the proposed 100-bed eye hospital and the required infrastructure including equipment.

The hospital will come up over 4.5 acres of land in the Samarjhola village under Hinjilikatu block, which is approximately 17 km from Berhampur city. Hinjilikatu is the Assembly constituency of Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

Out of the total grant, a cheque of Rs 3 crore, as an initial amount, was handed over to the hospital authority on the occasion, said Tata Steel.
