The Swaraj India party on Thursday announced that it will contest all 90 Assembly seats in Haryana, where elections are due later this year.

Its national president Yogendra Yadav said the party had entered politics to change the established practices, and hence it has decided to contest all the seats in the Haryana Assembly polls.

“Over the last four years, Swaraj Abhiyan and Swaraj India have been raising the issues of agrarian distress, unemployment and corruption. It was because of Swaraj India’s struggle that government procurement of bajra and mustard increased in Haryana,” he said.

“Instead of a manifesto with empty promises and fake claims, Swaraj India will issue an ‘Imanpatra’ with concrete policy proposals,” he said.

Swaraj India’s State president Rajeev Godara criticised both the Congress and the BJP and said there is a political vacuum in Haryana. “Employment rate has decreased, farmers are not getting the minimum support price, employees are agitating over various issues and caste- and religion-based hatred has increased,” he said.

The party's national secretary Avik Saha said one-third of Swaraj India’s candidates would be women and youth.
