‘Sushil Modi’s wife used fake degree for job’

Minister is desperate after we exposed his daughter’s illegal appointment: BJP leader

June 18, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - Patna:

A day after senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi demanded the expulsion of Bihar Health Minister Ramdhani Singh for allegedly misusing his office to appoint his daughter as a librarian at the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences, Mr. Singh on Wednesday alleged that Mr. Modi’s wife used fake certificates to get a government college job and that he would produce all relevant papers substantiating his claims soon.

Following Mr. Modi’s disclosure, Health Minister’s daughter Anita Devi had resigned from her post of IGIMS librarian on Tuesday. As Health Minister, Mr. Singh was the chairman of the IGIMS Board of governance and had allegedly flouted norms for the appointment of his daughter, it was charged.

Apparently perturbed over the expose on his daughter’s illegal appointment, Mr. Singh later took on Mr. Modi charging that his wife was appointed in a government college on fake certificates.

“Sushil Modi’s wife used fake degree certificates to get job at a government college and I will provide all relevant documents to prove my claims to media within three days,” Mr. Singh told journalists at Sasaram.

He said the Vigilance department which investigated the lecturer scam in the 1990s had papers regarding Mr. Modi’s wife’s illegal appointment.

“She had joined as a lecturer using fake degree certificates. Today she is professor but I’ll expose Modi’s tall claims of projecting himself as an honest person,” charged Mr. Singh.

“Frivolous charges”

Mr. Modi said “the Health Minister has become desperate after we exposed him for his daughter’s illegal appointment and that’s why he has been making such frivolous charges against me.”

“He and all the officers involved in his daughter’s appointment must be dismissed and action should be taken against them,” Mr. Modi said at Ara while coming out of a party function.

BJP’s challenge

State BJP spokesperson Vinod Narayan Jha challenged Mr. Singh to prove his allegations. “Their government is in power and that they should make the investigation,” he said.
