Staff lace meals with sleeping pills in care home


Three persons working at an old age home in Sector 15, Chandigarh have been transferred by the Social Welfare Department for allegedly administering sleeping pills in the meals of the elderly residents.

The Chandigarh administration was informed by the local nurse that the staff were mixing sedatives in the meals of the residents to keep them asleep for up to 16 hours a day so that they would not make many demands on them.

An official said resident manager Parvesh, cook Kishen and attendant Radha were found guilty and transferred.
