Special Judge under the Prevention of Corruption B.P Deshpande on Monday rejected a plea for a first information report(FIR) against Rajendra Arlekar, the Speaker of Goa Legislative Assembly in the the disproportionate assets case due to lack of sanction from the government.

The petitioner activist lawyer Aires Rodrigues has said that he will go in appeal against the order in Bombay High court at Goa.

The case pertained to a purchase of a flat by Mr. Arlekar, which the complainant had alleged was funded from his wealth disproportionate to his known sources of income. He had also alleged that that Mr. Arlekar had concealed his sources of income, in his petition under Section 156(3) of the Criminal Procedure Code, seeking an immediate filing of an FIR.
