The ruling Samajwadi Party on Monday accused the Uttar Pradesh Governor Ram Naik of acting like an “RSS worker.”
The ruling party’s latest attack on the Governor comes a day after he told the media that the law and order situation in the State was “extremely poor” and that he would consider sending a report to the Centre.
Samajwadi Party leaders routinely criticise the Governor but this time the attack came from Prof. Ram Gopal Yadav who is known for his quiet temperament.
Addressing a press conference at the residence of party chief Mulayam Singh, Prof. Yadav said: “I am forced to speak about the Governor because he roams around and attends programmes of communal and Hindutva groups which spread hatred and poison in society,” said Prof. Yadav.
Mr. Yadav, general secretary of the party, advised the Modi government to make Mr. Naik a Union Minister so that he could fulfil his “communal agenda.”
“Mr. Naik speaks about the law and order situation. But he remains completely silent on incidents like Dadri. The entire world knows who conspired to organise the Dadri incident,” Mr. Yadav said in a no-holds-barred attack.
“Mr. Naik acts like a Union Home Minister. The Chief Minister meets the Governor regularly but Mr. Naik reveals the details of these meetings. No other Governor of any other State behaves like him.”
“I just hope Mr. Naik introspects,” the senior SP leader added.
