Six more Maoists killed in Maharashtra

Second encounter in Gadchiroli in 48 hours

Inflicting another massive blow to the Maoists within 48 hours, the Maharashtra police claimed to have gunned down six Maoists in Gadchiroli district on Monday.

“Six Maoists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Rajaram Khandla area of Gadchiroli this evening,” Sharad Shelar, Inspector-General of Maharashtra police’s Anti-Naxal Operation (ANO) unit, told The Hindu .

This is the second such encounter in Gadchiroli in 48 hours. On Sunday, the security forces had gunned down 16 Maoists in Kasansur area of the district.
