Sena fails to remove ‘memorial’

In spite of an assurance to the city administration that the makeshift memorial for Bal Thackeray at Shivaji Park in Dadar would be removed on Monday, the Sena leadership failed to live up to its promise.

The party leadership wrote to Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation commissioner Sitaram Kunte last Friday promising to remove the temporary structure.

On Monday, taking a completely different stand, the party asked for an alternative place on the ground to shift the structure.

While none of the leaders chose to raise the demand openly, sources in the party confirmed that the structure would not be shifted until the civic administration provided an alternative place for the structure on the playground.
