Security beefed up in north east ahead of R-Day

Security measures have been beefed up in the north-east ahead of the Republic day celebrations to maintain law and order. Meanwhile insurgent groups have called for a boycott over the event.

Kamatapur Liberation Organisation, National Democratic Front of Bodoland (S), United National Liberation Front of Asom (I) and Coordination Committee Manipur, formed by six proscribed underground organisations  called the general strike with effect from January 25.

There have been ambushes and bomb blasts here and there ahead of the Republic day functions.

Forces from the Centre and the State have been deployed to maintain law and order.

All venues of the official functions will be guarded by the heavily armed policemen while security forces.
