May 03, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:53 am IST - PANAJI:

The application filed in the Supreme Court by the former Goa Minister, Mickky Pacheco, for more time to surrender in an assault case will come up on May 11.

However, Mr. Pacheco has not pursued his review petition on April 1.

On Saturday, activist lawyer Aires Rodrigues filed an intervention application in the court, pointing out that in his plea for more time, Pacheco concealed the fact that he had been «sconding for the last three weeks and a warrant had been issued for his arrest by the Margao Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC).

Meanwhile, South Goa Additional Sessions Judge P.V. Sawaikar rejected Mr. Rodrigues’ application for intervention in the criminal revision petition by the State government against the April 22 order of Margao JMFC Bosco Roberts, issuing a warrant to search for Mr. Pacheco at 10, Akbar Road, New Delhi, the official residence of Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar.

The judge scheduled final arguments for May 20.

Pacheco has to serve a six-month jail sentence awarded by the Bombay High Court at Goa on July 17 last for having assaulted a junior engineer of the Electricity Department in 2006.
