Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh has accused Union Minister Vijay Sampla of attempting to scuttle the dreams of the Sikh community by unnecessarily complicating the process of travel to the historic Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan.
“Instead of finding ways of facilitating Sikh pilgrims, the Central government, especially responsible elected representatives such as Mr. Sampla, were constantly putting hurdles in the way of realisation of their dream to visit the historic Gurdwara, which they had seen being fulfilled with the decision to open the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor,” Capt. Amarinder said in a statement.
He said the statement of Mr. Sampla, rejecting the possibility of passport waiver and making visa mandatory for pilgrims crossing the Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, had once again shown that neither the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party nor its ally SAD were interested in facilitating the devotees by making travel hassle-free.
