January 04, 2012 01:08 am | Updated July 25, 2016 06:33 pm IST - KOLKATA:

Hotmail.com co-founder Sabeer Bhatia on Tuesday called on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

He was accompanied by Bhaskar Pramanik, chief of Microsoft India.

Mr. Bhatia, who recently founded JaxtrSMS, has expressed his keenness to collaborate with the West Bengal government for his new venture. He told her that this mobile application could be used for official communication.

“I would be delighted to work with the West Bengal government,” he said.

JaxtrSMS is an application that enables users to send unlimited free SMSes to any other phone.

IT experts said that a partnership would help the government in three levels of text-based communications — sending SMS intra-government, from government to citizens and also for receiving communications from the citizens to government.
