Senior Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Raghunath Jha resigned from the party on Thursday and announced that he would soon join the Samajwadi Party, which has decided to go it alone in the Bihar Assembly elections.
Mr. Jha accused RJD chief Lalu Prasad of “ignoring senior party leaders at the cost of his family”. Mr. Jha, who was considered the Brahmin face of the RJD, had been party MP from Bettiah and Minister in the Rabri Devi government. He was national vice-president of the party at the time of resigning.
“I’ve been with you through thick and thin for the past 25 years. But, seeing your behaviour these days towards party workers and neglect towards me, I am resigning from the post and the primary membership of the party as well,” Mr. Jha wrote in the resignation letter sent to Mr. Prasad.
