An Arunachal Pradesh government employee has filed an FIR against a BJP MLA of the State for allegedly raping her on October 12.

Goruk Pordung representing the Bameng Assembly constituency has denied the charge and said it is a bid to malign his image.

The case was registered at the women’s police station in Itanagar on Monday, about 24 hours after it was filed.

In her complaint, the woman said the MLA had called her to a hotel in Itanagar between 8 and 9 p.m. on Saturday for discussing some issues related to the Bameng Primary Health Centre in East Kameng district.

She said she thought there would be other staff in the hotel room for a purportedly official meeting. “But, I was shocked to see him alone inside the room. Though I was scared to get inside, he called me in and offered a glass of wine. I refused to drink the same, but he forced me to have it and locked the door,” the FIR read.

She said the MLA physically-abused and raped her, and threatened her with dire consequences if she told anyone.

Capital Complex SP Tumme Amo confirmed the registration of the case.
