Rape accused buried in Assam

March 09, 2015 01:35 am | Updated November 16, 2021 05:14 pm IST - Guwahati:

The funeral of Syed Sarif Khan, the rape accused who was lynched by a mob in Nagaland’s Dimapur town last week, was held on Sunday at his ancestral village Bosla in Karimganj district in Assam’s Barak valley. Normal life in Barak valley was affected after a 12-hour bandh called by several organisations evoked spontaneous response, official sources said.

Karimganj Deputy Commissioner Sanjib Gohain Boruah told The Hindu that the funeral prayer was held around 10 a.m. in the presence of Khan’s family members and villagers. The DC said the bandh passed off peacefully in the district.
