Punjab Sports Minister Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi on Friday said that the State government would soon be making comprehensive amendments in the sports policy.

“In the new sports policy prize money for medal winners from Punjab at international level would be enhanced, besides the pension of the veteran players would be increased. Revival of Maharaja Ranjit Singh awards and permanent provision of jobs for the medal winning players is also under contemplation,” said Mr. Sodhi at a press conference here.

The Minister said in order to create a sports-friendly atmosphere, the near defunct District Olympic Associations would be revived.
