: The regional committee of Socialist Unity Centre of India (SUCI) held a demonstration in front of Berhampur railway station on Wednesday to protest against the atrocity of railway police on its party activists in Cuttack on May 18.

According to SUCI members on May 18, a group of SUCI activists including women had taken up an awareness drive against price rise and other issues like drug addiction at Cuttack railway station.

They alleged that the railway police had for no reason taken the SUCI activists into custody from the Cuttack railway station. They further alleged that police had beaten up these political activists and had also misbehaved with women members.

“The irony is that woman SUCI activists were manhandled by male railway police personnel,” said Kartik Mohanty of the SUCI.

The SUCI activists demanded strict action against erring railway police personnel, who had misbehaved.
