Concerned over the presence of a large number of journalists outside the Sessions Court, where the former Tehelka journalist was recording her statement, the Goa Police warned that action would be taken if her identity or privacy was compromised.
Deputy Inspector-General O.P. Mishra wrote to the Goa News Broadcasting Standards Authority on Wednesday asking it to issue directions to reporters of the print and electronic media in this regard.
“We will not hesitate to take penal action against media personnel if the identity or privacy of the victim is violated,” Mr. Mishra told reporters.
