The second phase of the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections will be held on Saturday in 59 constituencies. Around 1.94 crore voters, including 87 lakh women, will choose candidates from among 1,098 contestants.

The ruling Bahujan Samaj Party, the main Opposition Samajwadi Party and the Congress have fielded their nominees in all the constituencies. The Bharatiya Janata Party is fighting in 55 segments.

The candidates include Assembly Speaker Sukhdeo Rajbhar, 31 MLAs and 24 Ministers of the Mayawati government.

The elections will be held in Sant Kabir Nagar, Maharajganj, Gorakhpur, Kushinagar, Deoria, Azamgarh, Mau, Ballia and Ghazipur districts.
