Order on promotion for SCs, STs in jobs set aside

May 05, 2015 03:02 am | Updated 03:02 am IST - Patna

The Patna High Court has set aside a government order relating to promotion of employees belonging to Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes in government jobs.

Justice V. Nath pronounced the judgment on Monday on a writ petition by Sushil Kuar Singh.

Justice Nath quashed the order of 2014 after finding that it was not in conformity with a Supreme Court judgment in M. Nagaraj case in 2006.

The 2006 order had defined the condition for providing reservation in promotion in government jobs on caste lines. The government order of December 21, 2014 had stated reservation with consequential seniority in promotion to SC & ST employees.
