A Goa police team arrested a suspect in Nellore, Andhra Pradesh, on Sunday in connection with the murder of a woman tourist from Himachal Pradesh in a hotel in Arpora in North coastal Goa on Saturday.

Chandan Choudhary, SP, North Goa, told The Hindu that the accused would be brought to Goa on Sunday evening. She declined to give details as it could affect the investigation.

She said they had sent another team to Chandigarh to track down some more suspects.

The woman, 25, from Una in Himachal Pradesh was found dead with injuries on her neck.

Police sources said they had identified her companion, Sukhvinder Singh, a resident of Chandigarh, who was seen on a CCTV camera leaving the premises on Saturday morning with four unidentified persons.

According to the police sources, the victim was wearing North Indian bridal dress when she checked into the resort with her companion on April 20.

The police sent the body to the Goa Medical College near here for post mortem.

“A case of murder has been registered,” Inspector in-charge of the Anjuna police station Navlesh Dessai said.
