Admissions into National Institute of Technology (NIT) Warangal is heading for a showdown with the Telangana reiterating that all the 50 per cent seats reserved for the home State belong to them even as the Andhra Pradesh Government is seeking an equal share.
TS Deputy Chief Minister and Education Minister Kadiam Srihari met the MHRD Secretary, S.N. Mohanty, in New Delhi on Tuesday and told him that Telangana has total rights on the seats and in no way would the seats be shared with A.P. “As per the A.P. Reorganisation Act, NIT Warangal belongs to Telangana and home quota seats are ours,” Mr. Srihari told The Hindu . “Any changes in the admission process would be challenged in the court”, he said arguing that admissions in NITs cannot be done as per 371D Act .
