The Mumbai Police have claimed that the family of Kashmiri youth Parvez Teli, approached the police authorities only on July 8 and officials had taken a due note of their complaint.
“The family approached us on July 8 and we registered the complaint afterwards. There was no delay from our side and we made all efforts to find the missing person,” said Sunil Paraskar, Additional Commissioner of Police (North Region), adding that Mumbai police did everything possible to help the family of Parvez.
Parvez went missing from Borivli, on July 6, where he had gone to board a bus to Goa. His dead body was later found in KEM Hospital in Mumbai on July 13.
He also made it clear that if the family has any doubt over the working of Mumbai police, they can anytime submit an application asking for inquiry of the officers. “We will take a serious note of it if such application comes to us,” Mr. Paraskar told The Hindu .
Meanwhile, the Railway Police have claimed that Parvez was alive when he reached the Mumbai Central railway station and died while crossing the railway tracks.
“He was crossing the railway track and saw a train approaching from the same track. He jumped to the next track, but another train was passing in opposite direction from that track. In the confusion, he could not make out as where to run and stood where he was,” said VD Trivedi, Senior Police Inspector at the Mumbai Central Railway Police station.
Mr. Trivedi said that as one of the trains struck him, he fell in between two tracks. “The trains were at halt for more than ten minutes. The motorman called the station master and the railway staff picked him from the tracks and rushed to KEM hospital. At the hospital he was declared dead before admission,” said Mr. Trivedi.
