Nine security personnel injured in Bastar

Nine security personnel were injured in two separate incidents in Bastar region of Chhattisgarh on Tuesday.

“A team of COBRA (Commando Battalion for Resolute Action) of the CRPF was carrying out area domination exercise in Kodanar forest of Dantewada district when three commandos accidentally put their foots on a pressure bomb planted by the Maoists. All three suffered injuries when the pressure bomb exploded and some other Jawans also suffered some minor injuries ,” S.R.Kalluri, Inspector General (IG) of police, Bastar range told The Hindu.

In another incident, two personnel of state auxiliary force, were attacked with sharp weapons near Tongpal police station in Sukma district.

“The attack took place when the Jawans were having tea at a tea-stall near the police station,” added Mr.Kalluri.

However, police could not track down the Maoists upon searching the nearby area.

The injured COBRA Commandos Ritesh Kumar, Mirja Ashiq and Chandraprakash were airlifted to Raipur for further treatment and are said to be out of danger.

Four other COBRA Commandos Sujit Hathi, Abhishek,Charanjeet Rai and Santosh Kumar who suffered minor injuries were shifted Jagdalpur headquarters for treatment .

Two Jawans of state Auxaliry force were also shifted Jagdalpur.
