The police are exploring the possibility of booking Asaram on fresh changesof murder.

A day after the Shahjahanpur police received an audio tape allegedly containing a conversation between Asaram Bapu and Kripal Singh who was recently killed allegedly by the disciples of the self-styled godman, the police are exploring possibility of booking Asaram on fresh charges of sabotaging justice and murder.

In the audio tape the voice which sounds like that of Asaram, he is heard offering money to Kripal Singh, one of the key witnesses in the rape case against him. Singh was recently killed allegedly by disciples of Asaram.

The audio clip was given to the police by the father of the rape victim who claimed that it was given to him by Kripal Singh to make a point that Asaram has access to phone in jail. The police which has sent the tape for forensic labs to ascertain its genuineness, are investigating if the alleged conversation between Kripal Singh and Asaram had anything to do with his death.

The conversation between the two is said to have been facilitated by Raghav and Sanjay, two disciples of Asaram. Both of them are key suspects in the murder case of Kripal. “I keep my promises. You know it. You will be given fifty per cent of it is before the work is done and rest after its completion,” says the voice which sounds similar to that of Asaram in the tape.

The father of the victim has alleged that Asaram made an offer to Kripal Singh for not pursuing the case and not giving the statement against him before a judicial magistrate. Singh made his witness statement against Asaram in the rape case two months back.

“It seems that Asaram was angry with him for refusing his offer. It seems that Kripal Singh's murder has some connection with his refusal to accept Asaram's offer,” father of the victim told The Hindu . The Senior Superintendent of Police Shahjahanpur Babloo Kumar told The Hindu on phone that the priority of the police was to find out the authenticity of the tape.
